A smattering of things I think the board should NOT do:
- mandate that any given individual become a member or council member (e.g. "we think Bre Pettis is cool, so he's a member now.")
- suspend or ban anyone without "due process" (which we are in the process of working out). I think it would be a mistake to not allow the board to take action against a member in "extreme circumstances" -- for example someone brings a gun to Noisebridge and makes everyone too afraid to do anything about it.

The board SHOULD:

(where "manage" can encompass a wide range of strategies, e.g. Working Groups)
- countermand any consensus item that requires the board or the Noisebridge membership to do illegal things ("illegal" in the US state/city/federal law sense, up until such time as NB pushes off into the Pacific Ocean and joins The Raft).
- manage purchase and maintenance of non-hacking-intended items (e.g. toilet paper, infrastructural CAT-5, permanent shelving).
- manage general cleaning and maintenance of all areas.

(that's just what popped to mind in 5 minutes on my lunch hour.)
